What is this freaking algea? Got a tuxedo that does great in my big tank and he barely touches it. I beleive it to be green turf algea but don’t know how to kill it. Please help. It’s growing so fast it’s going to smother my candy canes and white zombies which are my two best corals.

Manual removal at that point is your only option. Clean up crew only takes care of thr short stuff. Use a toothbrush at the end of your Gravel vac when doing water changes.

Over-run is a good description as this is commonly confused with Green hair algae but is actually Derbesia, similar to Bryopsis and the reason it's out of control is - it has a root system. As Long as roots are present, it will continue to grow and spread. Many resort to Fluconasal which is often an alternative and not solution.
Removal is best accomplished by taking the rock out of tank and placing in a container of tank water. Then you will want to pull as much as you can by hand and discard. With a dental pick or small crochet needle, pull the roots off the rock. YOU MUST GET EVERY ROOT OR IT WILL SIMPLY RETURN !!
After you are done return rock to tank and reduce white light intensity and even hours of white light and add the following cleaners which will help with control. These guys will consume bryopsis but not as fast as bryopsis can grow - They will never keep up.
Pin cushion urchin, Chiton snails, pitho crabs, and larger astrea snails

This procedure is not as bad or time consuming as it seems. Assure phosphate levels do not become elevated which helps feed this algae

Derbesia is in the Bryopsis family. I would expect Reeflux to work on getting rid of it. From my research and personal experience once it is completely killed off with fluconazole it doesn't return unless reintroduced. Im not a big fan of dumping alot of chemicals in my tank but this method works extremely well.
