I'm planning out a roughly 300g system, 220g tank - 30g remote fuge - 50g ish sump, and I'm currently trying to decide between the skimmers below.

I know generally larger is better and I plan on running a pretty heavy bioload but I've also ran into problems from tanks that were too clean. I'd like to be able to naturally balance my nitrates in the 5-15 range and know that overskimming could possibly keep me from that.

Do you think you would be unhappy if you went a step down in size?

Same... For roughly 300 gallon total water volume as well. Its just a bit noisier than the space saving models but can't beat consistent performance. I went larger because of the heavy poopers in my system.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the bigger one would be a better choice.

I have the RO Elite 200 SSS on my 190. It’s probably the best skimmer I’ve ever had. The directions for putting together are a bit lacking, but if you’ve put a skimmer together before ....
It’s super quiet and has pulled the worst smelling funk I’ve had to deal with. If I was in your position I would do the 220 from my experience with this one.

Thanks, looks like I'm going to go that route with a neck cleaner and probably an avast skimmate locker as well.

Do you not have problems with angels nipping or eating your corals?
