We've all got them! From critical mistakes to the mundane. Let's hear your biggest reefing pet peeve!!!

I'll get the ball rolling:

Biology & Medicine: Any living animal or plant that harbors another organism (such as a parasite) on or within its body, often providing it with nourishment.

Anemones/coral harbor (host) clownfish. Clownfish are harbored (hosted) by anemones/coral. 😇

any nuisance algae!

Concur. Thirty plus yrs in this hobby and I can't get over it!!!!!!

Clownfish are "beginner friendly". They're not friendly to anything! 😂

That stuff that gets sold at LFS and online as cures for so many aquarium ills. And so many of them are more 'snake oil' than cures!

Yaaaaaasssssss! Your clownfish has never hosted an anemone. It's the other way around.

Named Corals
Lazy people who don't do their own research.
Impossible "non negotiable " stocking lists for tanks way too small for a firefish.
Giving advice when you have never done it yourself.
Thinking throwing money on an expensive set up makes you a biologist/chemist.

Anything that needs an App

It's still early I'm sure there's a lot more.

It’s funny you mention this! I’ve never had a mean pair of clowns until the last pair we had. Over all the years I’ve never had biting clownfish. I’m going to start a poll. lol!

Bluntly- online reefers who parrot "information" they heard or read somewhere as fact, without any idea of the background or basis behind it.

The mixed messages drive me crazy. I feel like I have to watch multiple videos or read multiple posts and then decide for myself.

SAY IT AGAIN FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK! I have to hold my OCD tongue every time I see people talking about clownfish hosting anemones.

My biggest pet peeve is people who say bigger tanks are easier to care for. In my experience, it just isn't true. Yes, it can dilute water chemistry mistakes, but the physical work required for all facets (cleaning, water changes, $$$) are all larger. After a few months, regardless of tank size, you get the hang of how to keep your system stable. At that point, SMALLER IS EASIER!

My clowns are perfect little angels. They give up their homes for new fish and the new fish don’t even have to fight or be aggressive to them too. Maybe I just got really lucky?
