so i added my nem to the tank about two weeks ago it actually found a spot and set up got all big and expanded looked beautiful after it got use to my tank. i then found it at the top of the glass all deflated and this crab was hanging onto the nem. IT LOOKED LIKE IT RIPPED THE NEM. its foot was dug into the nem so i removed the crab from the tank and isolated him in the sump. the nem defintly had a huge rip in its foot. Im worried that itll die. pics attached.

After about an hour i saw them nem fully split and it tore itself in two. is this normal is this it splitting or did the crab hurt it and now its dieing ?

From my understanding sometimes they split when stressed. As long as their internals arent spilling out of their mouth then I think they are fine

Looks like a bubble tip to me. This is completely normal behavior that may or may not be stress related. Try to encourage them to stay on the rock work by building an island to live on and spot feeding. I started with one ten years ago and now have ten due to periodic splitting.

its normal splitting. Nems do move out when they want to split in my experience.. The crab was probably just trying to clean it cause when they split the nems internal guts do get exposed. But I might be wrong. And from what it looks like from ur pic, ur nem should be fine as long as both of them has part of the mouth.

the rock work is basicly a island lol they woulda had to go on the sand to get where they are now !
