do the powder blue tangs get too big? for a 90 gallon

I have a buddy that has had a powder blue for years in a 75g which is the same 48''x18'' footprint as the 90, also with a couple other tangs. It's about 4 - 5''. If you can provide a proper diet and also keep the water clean you can definitely do it.

Would this be better and yes It is going to be for a 90 gallon tank I will upgrade to something around 500 gallons but not soon enough to put into thought.

I like the list. Just be aware that anthias have a huge appetite and you will be dumping a lot of food in that tank. Your filtration / nutrient export will need to be on point.

my plan for the tank to set it up is going to be a very slow startup If you are familiar with the one thing they did on brs to skip the ugly stage is something similar to what I'm going to do and ill set up a build forum to go into further details as soon as I get the tank.

If you start them small, it may work to have the trio you are considering, especially since each are from a different genus:
Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens)
Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon)
White-tail Bristletooth Tang (Ctenochaetus flavicauda)

I would not do a kole and a white tail as they are basically the same exact fish, one just has a hint of red in it and a white tail and cost 10x as much.

I also had to wait over a year to get my white tail bristletooth, only to have it never eat and slowly starve over the course of about 3 months. That was brutal.

I'll do a kole next time and save the $

Just keep in mind that I'm not sure it would be recommended typically for a 90-gallon tank. Much better would be just the yellow tang and bristletooth tang.

yes this is a great trio. expensive but beautiful and very useful to a reef.

Way too big, active, and aggressive.

Not to be too repetitive, but, if it were my plan, I'd still skip the powder blue tang...
Everything else looks good in my inexperienced but researched opinion.

Clowns - fine
Leopard wrasse - fine
Mandarin - fine
Blenny - fine
Lyretail anthias - fine
Foxface - debatable for a 90. They get pretty large, but not as aggressive or active as most tangs. Expect a 6" fish with venomous spines.
Powder blue - does not belong on a 90.
White tail - fine. That would be my big fish for a 90.
Yellow tang - debatable for a 90. If you go that route, I would strongly recommend that as your only tang/rabbit/butterfly. They get pretty aggressive in 4 foot tanks. I've seen multiple specimens kill tankmates.
Mystery wrasse - as I said before, they aren't compatible with other wrasses once mature. Mean when mature. It will also likely go after the mandarin.

I would do:
Clowns
Leopard wrasse
mandarin
blenny
anthias
White tail tang
A percher, like a pink spot watchman goby

Everyone whose recommending the tangs are risking a lot.

I would do:
- Yellow Tail Tamarin Wrasse
- Twin Spot Bristletooth Tang
- Longnose Hawkfish
- Foxface Lo
- Leopard Wrasses (I would personally do several - Something like 1x Blue Star Leopard, 2x Black Spot Leopard, 1x Potters Leopard)
- Mandarin Dragonet
- picasso clownfish

And that’s you maxed out. Now if you went with more tangs, you could only get 5 fish in there total as the thing EVERYONE is forgetting is max size.
