Help with I'd?? Popping up everywhere

Baby hammers. These are majano anemones.

Agreed but the number of tentacles and their shape have me leaning away from majano anemones.

From what you described as far as where the organisms are sprouting, I would think it would b the hammers, especially since you already have so many of them. Since the majano plague days of 10 years or so ago, and with industry switching to “dry live rock” (whatever the f that means) has kept majano infestations to almost non-existent in the majority of aquaria

I could never be so lucky in all my years! Its such an amazing hobby. I did have a chalice grow back after becoming a complete skeleton but a sprout of euphyllia is amazing!

Im not just saying it for some reason, lol. Its experience in many years that manjano sprout up like this. Just trying to help in a reefing forum with different opinions. How bad would it suck for the OP to think he's got euphyllia growing then ends up with an infestation of pest anemone. They do look like baby hammers and I think now thats what they are and how amazing it is to have so many sprout in the tank, again, just trying to help.

Here is a couple of up close photos I got
I'll keep an eye on them and post up to keep you all in the loop. It's definitely interesting that's for sure.
And if they are majano anemone then I suppose that's just the next thing to keep me occupied with the tank.

I'm just going to throw it out there, I'm starting to think there is no way these are euphyllia. I just counted about 40 of these, all about the same size but alot more than I first thought. Surely 40 hammers wouldn't just spawn in the tank randomly? . I'm going to ride this out and see where they get in the next few weeks but daaamn gonna be a pain if they are a pest.

Hmmm, maybe. But a spawning event means they grow wherever they land. Majano would spread like other anemones by pedal laceration and moving about. They would be more localized in their spread if an anemone.

If you have that many, try peeling one off a rock to see if it has a foot like anemones.

None so far have moved at all so fingers crossed.

Just a thought, and I could be wrong. Baby hammers would, in theory have some kind of skeleton whereas mojano would not. Also whenever I’ve suddenly moved hammers out of water they generally just droop and slowly retract whereas Aiptasia and mojano have sucked into themselves typically within a few seconds.

Perhaps a good test may be to try to irritate one to see if it’s skeleton appears or take the rock out and see what happens after 10-20 seconds or so (if that’s an option on one of the rocks).

I have seen scoly spawn with literally hundreds of babies all over the place. If the conditions are right, you can hit a jackpot. They release so many larval plankton in nature, cause 99.99% of them are eaten or lost to the ocean
