Marine betta has been with me about 2-3 weeks. Currently in copper power QT. I have seen it flash once or twice (over a week ago) and will do prazi after copper.

Has only been eating live ghost shrimp and over the past few days has been a bit less shy. I’ve noticed random bites or lunges when walking by but unsure if it was for food. I noticed a small growth or a crustacean of sorts on or around the nose. I’ve attached a photo of the best angle I could get. Due to the color and natural pattern, it’s difficult to get a picture unless it’s a silhouette. I am also noticing the fin start to become more and more grey. Photos attached from a live cam. Looking to get any recommendations for treatment of what this could possibly be or how I could best remedy the situation.

Thank you.

*edit* the fish previously displayed symptoms of ich (a few white dots on transparent fins). They are no longer visible but the fish will be in treatment for 2 more weeks minimum

these fish are extremely shy and will hide endlessly. . .UNTIL . . . You walk away. Mine likes LRS herbivore frenzy, plankton, krill, mysis shrimp and although small - brine shrimp
Next time you feed, walk away as it knows youre there but set phone on video mode for 10-15 minutes and come back and review video and you will see how well it eats. Took mine well over a year to come out and stay out

Sorry - I can't make out what you're describing. Can you post a video?

Can you try feeding it some freshly killed ghost shrimp? If you can transition it over to those, it will be an easy step to get it feeding on small krill.

Marine bettas are pretty resistant to parasitic diseases - they still get them, but you often have more time to deal with the issue than with a lot of other fish species.

The copper treatment will deal with protozoan issues, which are the fastest to kill a fish. Once that's over, you can treat with praziquantel for flukes.
