I have a 120 g rimless that is full of fish, coral and live rock . I am currently selling all my corals but that is not for R2R till i have enough posts lol. My tank was custom built by aquarium creations and i am happy with everything besides my stand. I want to get a stand built with a ledge around it for the tank . Is there a way i could safely swap my stand out with fish and live rock in the tank . I have a achilles tang and a mated pair of fancy snowflake clowns i dont want to stress out too much but wont have any coral at the time of the swap . Has anyone done this here ?

No way! If you simply assume water at 8 pounds/gallon, you're looking at close to half a ton in water alone. It's just as simple to get a bunch of containers/stock tanks and pull the fish out and drain the tank and pull the rock into these containers/stock tank. The stress would be minimal. Have everything ready, and within an hour or two you could have those fish back into the tank.

lol i obviosly planned on taking the water out , not just trying to he-man and lift 900 lbs of water alone.

I've moved mine with water and fish in tank, although mine is a 50 gallon. I would drain most of the water, I would leave 2-3" above sand. I would slide tank over on to a temporary stand, do what i needed to do then put it back. I have also swapped out tanks this way! Hope things go smooth for you!
