Hey Everyone,

I was looking for a 40g Breeder drilled for awhile local to me on here but I got no bites so I took the drive to my local LFS That Fish Place/ That Pet Place to get one. They did have one a Seapora brand 40g breeder but undrilled of course. I found a Seapora 75g Reef Ready 48x18x20 so I bought it, great size.

I need a stand I was looking at Alufabs kits, for my tank it's just over $1k which seems insanely overpriced and thats just for the precut T Slot stand no side panels or anything. I do love that with T-Slot you have tons of add on options

I was looking a little more and found one from Mode Aquariums it's not a T-Slot style for $450 but it doesn't seem like the best option and seems kinda cheap thin tubing. Anyone heard of them or used one before?

I dont want a wooden stand I would rather have an aluminum or steel stand this is gonna be my forever tank so I want something that will last the test of time without breaking the bank. If you have any input or options please let me know or maybe you have one. Im in PA this tank is also replacing my 10g nano thats been setup going on 9yrs at this point.

Looking at that alufab thing, it's got roughly 370 linear inches of 1530, which looking at 8020.net will run you $1.45 an inch. That's roughly $540, and then you have to add the roughly 180 inches of 1515 at 79 cents an inch for another $120, so that's already $680, and then the fasteners for that system are pretty pricy. So even if you're only looking at $200 in random hardware you're already up to $880, and then there's shipping.

So say you get all the parts at $900 shipped, now you're on the hook for making sure you get it right the first time.

All of the sudden, to me anyway, that $1140 becomes a lot more appealing.

This is why dimensional lumber stands are so popular. They're cheap, sturdy, and anyone can make one. So if you don't want that, prepare to dish out some cash.

Thanks for the info. I contacted Parco Inc. for a quote through them to see if there cheaper than Alufab but it seems I'm kinda limited on options when it comes to aluminum t slot stands. I guess Im definitely gonna get one from either of those two companies. I think it's worth the money either way I never want to worry about the stand and want to have it forever. I think it's just a good option either way. Next on the list is a sump already have one in mind just need the stand first so I can make sure it fits.

I contacted Alufab and went with the stand through them W/ top and bottom panels and side panels along with an extra side panel that gets mounted on the inside at one end to create a cabinet to store controllers so none of them are inside the open sump underneath the tank to help with any salt creep or just salt in the air. I will prolly start a build thread as I'm not sparing no expense with this tank and setup this is the last tank I will own so I want it to be the best it can be.
