Hey Guys - about three weeks ago I had a frag of Utters fall off a frag shelf about 10 inches and they were flipped up side down until I got home (possibly flipped upside down for 9hrs max). Every since then they haven't really came out, i did dip them in revive this past weekend but it didn't seem to help.

Should I look at dipping them in Iodine? I'm willing to buy whatever to give them the best chance of surviving. So far as of this weekend it doesn't appear that any have melted yet. They use to look like the other frag of utters they are next to.

(ignore the pin wheels to the left of them...I nearly killed them with to much light and had just moved them down and are recovering.).

Alk: 8.6
Cal: 450
Mag: 1400
Nitrate: 16
Phos: .13
Sal: 1.025

I would just leave them be and see if they recover on their own. Did they fall on another coral?

Nope, they were just upside down on the sand luckily. I moved them to where they are at now, they are getting reduced light from where they use to be....but should be plenty since the other utter frag is doing good there and has been there.

I had a similar problem except hermit crab pulled mine loose..they stayed closed for a week and slowly started opening up on their own.

I've had zoas upside down for days and they stay closed for a few days and usually come back. Are you sure they were not closed in the rack on a fish like a tang started picking at dying zoas? Try seachems coral dip

@joshporksandwic Sorry I didn't notice that anyone else has posted. I don't have any tangs, I have a Female Bellus angel but have yet to see her pick at any coral....the rest of my fish are they typical royal gramma, clowns, melanarus wrasse, starry blenny.

The frag is still in the same location on my tank and are closed up a bit more now....not quite sure where to go from here other than just keep them there but I can see that they are getting smaller. I think it was probably more of the fall that hurt them than being flipped upside down, they would have hit other rock structure before they landed upside down in the sand bed. The utters that are next them are still looking good as always.

I will try the seachem dip and let you know how it goes.

Ok. What lights do you have? How high in the tank are they?

I have 2x xr15w pro's running at 45% and they are mounted 9" above the the tank. The tank is 21" deep (so lights would be 30" from the bottom of the tank i believe) and that frag is sitting around 3" from the sand bed on a frag plate rock. On another note the pinwheels are coming back pretty good since that picture (the ones to the left of the utters)

I was able to pick up some seachem coral dip locally today and did a 20 minute dip. I'll report back in a week and let you know how they are doing, also if you think they may need more light I can move them up easily.

two of them have came back out somewhat...they still aren't out as much as my picture above. I'm thinking I might move them up about half way in my tank tomorrow night. They had been acclimated to more light before they fell, they will either make it or die...but they are hanging in there still.
