I have a 10g nano reef, it seems a bit cloudy and im not sure why. I just did a water change too. Any advice one can give?

Need a few more specifics filtration, skimmer, water parameters, tank age and can you account for every thing in the tank? Is all of your livestock accounted for including corals? Was it cloudy before the water change?

It is very possible in that size tank that there could be a dead crab or snail hidden somewhere.

How long did you mix the new water? You really should let new water mix for at least 12 hours IMO.

Is it a new setup? Have you checked for ammonia?

also what are you dosing??? it could be a bacteria bloom of some sort.... kalk,mb7, vodka will all do this....

hey everyone! Its about a year old, but we had a power outtage so it crashed. Now Its all up and running again. Live Rock, Filter, Heater, ETC. All Levels are fine but a bit of nitrite. I dose with Iodide, phytoplankton, calcium, and another substance which name has slipped my mind. It has been clearing up, but it just seems a little weird. My polyps were closed, and now they are all open, but their is still a bit of haze to the tank.

I would ditch dosing the iodine, and drastically cut back on phyto.... nano tanks are typically not designed to take heavy bioloads...i.e. Phyto/Oyster/Roti etc... Iodine is a extremely touchy level to mess with IME, best left to expert coralmorph addicts. The clouds you see are being caused by Ammo breakouts, probably from phyto or whatever else you are adding. A fish list, equipment list and live rock/sand amounts will help us figure out what may be going on.

10 gallon tank, with 8 lbs of live rock (to my knowledge). live sand. Yellow tail damsel, tank raised percula. 1 Gonipora, 3 small button polyp branches, bubble tip anemone and condy anemone.

Also, i have been getting a lot of brown algae (usually from nitrates or phosphates) but my levels are low. How can i get rid of this brown algae. I was putting the iodide in because the guy at the fish store said it would help my corals and also start coraline algae growth.

Hmm.. I believe your tank is too small for one nem, let alone two. I would rehome both of them if you have the ability.

i can move the condy in about 3 weeks to my other tank, any other suggestions? The tank seems to be clearing up rather quickly. Its just the brown algae that is getting annoying. Any ideas?

Have you tested phosphates? Also are you using RODI top off water?

Yes phosphates are at a all time low and the tank has only ever used ro water. Today I looked at the water and it is pretty much crystal clear! I think you were right about a bacterial bloom of some sort. However I just need a good way to get rid of this brown algae. Any advice on how to get coraline algae?

On algae cut back on feeding. And leave lights off for a full day then on next day and repeat for a week. Is what I did and took care of it. But It does not cure the cause of it. Over Feeding wil cause algae blooms.

Are you running any kind of skimmer?

That is the main problem.
Cut back on the feeding

You don't have the room for a HOB Skimmer? Only thing that goes in the tank is a powerhead, like an MJ1200.

what about a biocube skimmer? they are very small and go actually inside the tank

and are fairly cheap and do a decent job on those small tanks

I agree, much too small for two anemones; not really even one unless conditions are prime. Good luck though. I'd say let it stabilize if your adding stuff (dosing) constantly. Its a terrible feeling to want to fix it right away when you know you can't.
