Pretty sure his salt is or was at 1.o24 if any at 1.24 the fish wouldn't last a hour and the PH will be out the roof.
I'm either looking at a ammonia spike on the dead of fish but that should have effected all fish in once.
If a decease you will see the results as you experienced one at the time.
Question is did you see any unusual behavior like rubbing on bottom or rocks, maybe rapid breathing, swimming weird, not eating and sleeping.............. ugh sleeping.
Fact is that all fish are gone :( and you want to move on.
I would invest in some decent test kits yourself and do water changes even no fish.
If corals are still ok so now and then feed them and throw a pinch of flake food in your tank that will give you somewhat No3 for your corals.
A good point was made if the clam died first before all the fish?

I agree with all diesel says here. First thing is to realize that not all LFS really know all the right info. Some do and some don't unfortunately. My lfs told me all kind of wrong things when I started and really had my tanked not doing good. I advise you to research as much as you can and go out and buy some good tests. API generally is not very accurate. Good luck and keep asking questions.

My only concern is that they may be bouncing between 24ppt and 1.024 salinity.

This is easy. Typical new tank problems with too many fish. I personally would stop changing water, stop using Chemi Clean or anything else and step back and leave the tank alone.
While you were trying to get your tank to cycle, you added Chemi Clean which is very good at eliminating cyano, but right now you don't need to eliminate that or anything else. You want to grow bacteria and Chemi Clean will slow down that process allowing ammonia to build up. Leave it alone. Don't go to that LFS for a while. The tank will settle down. It needs time and no chemicals or water changes.
In a few weeks I would add one small hardy fish. Not a Moorish Idol, mandarin or manta ray. This will happen to any new tank and gets worse with interference.
I wouldn't even test as I know what your tests will read. Don't adjust your pH, calcium or alk. Seawater is very stable as long as you don't mess with or tweek it.
Go out to dinner and have a nice glass of Merlot.
Good luck.

Nice log book. Here is mine, we all had problems. Us old dudes invented problems. It's part of the hobby. I call it the fun part. If you want a hobby without problems collect stamps. Now that's a challenge.

Your tank will be fine. Mine is and you are probably smarter and better looking than I am.

I would agree with just letting the tank sit. But I would still do the water changes,
going to take some time for it to settle down. patience and give it 2 months,

I love your journal! That is a great habit to get into. The thing about reef keeping is that "nothing good happens fast." With freshwater fish, you you can add fish within a day or two. With salt, it can be months. Typically, things like clams, urchins, starfish, and more demanding fish come after about a year. The idea is that your tank not only cycles fully, but also stabilizes.

This link is pretty good.
