Noticed a bunch of sand like grains in the tank I cleaned out yesterday and thought it was from where I transferred them from the main tank. But today there are a bunch more in the new TTM tank. What might they be? They are like sand grains except larger.
Could it be precipitation of calcium?

Tangs (and other fish) eat sand to help digest their food. Like birds eat grit. The sand is eventually pooped out.
Well that is a boring answer. Too bad it's probably correct.:D
