Just updating the journal that 2 days ago I upgraded powerheads to pp-15 from 8s. Maybe related or maybe not but a couple acros have browned and my favorite one has browned and reduced polyp extension and has hundreds of mesenterial filaments barely poking out of the underside all over it.

Don’t plan to do anything about it. Cross fingers that it’s just adjusting to the new flow. Powerheads are in same positions with no direct flow.

I noticed quite a bit of mesenterial filaments around the base of one of the new acros i got from battlecorals recently. I can only assume it's just part of the process of the coral acclimating itself with the surroundings. I'd wager the increased flow has the coral a little worked up. I'd think if it was healthy to begin with, it's probably just ticked off and will regain color and PE again. I know I've ticked off some sps in the past and it's crazy how they'll rebound. I've nearly killed a particular monti setosa a dozen times and it keeps coming back.

I just checked my salinity which I tend to neglect with a freshly calibrated refractometer and found that I’m down around 1.023/24. I’m thinking this is part of the issue.

Just a diary post.

Added passive GAC in my sump yesterday.

The coral that had browned seems to be getting color back. Not sure if something happened with my water or if its from the 3 way fight gong on below the coral where 3 acros are encrusting into each other.

Not sure how I missed your thread, probably because I don't wonder far from the sps forum but I'm glad you mentioned it over in mine. You got a new follower!

My male Marcia’s Anthias has been overthrown by one of the females that is now a male. The former king has been hiding on the other side of the tank and I assumed he would waste away and perish but he was back out tonight swimming with the group. Not real sure how that is going to play out. Hopefully the new male just lets him hang out.

Took a couple cell shots of the 3 sections and a pic a few steps back from the tank. Aside from a couple acros that have been brown since the crash, everything is doing pretty good.

This thing is really taking off again. Here it is from earlier in the thread, Jan 7th

And today

I always thought it was a stag but I don’t know anymore what it is going to do.

I started dosing Red Sea coral colors last week because I can’t leave stuff alone. Things are looking pretty good today.

Tank is doing pretty good. All of my WWC frags from the live sale are showing growth and have all kept their original color which is always a plus. Can’t wait for some good encrusting on the hand.
