I have a all in one 29 gallon tank. Soon I am building a 40 gallon breeder tank. Should I make a 20 gallon long tank as a refugium?

Welcome @Anthony Paun to R2R. Definitely a sump\refugium....the largest tank you can fit. Take advantage of the dollar -a-gallon sales at Petco. As far as an overflow, there are a number of choices. Definitely drill the tank.......Glass-Holes is an example that comes with the drill bit.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
