Hi. I thought I would register and introduce myself. I have been reading threads at a frenzied pace for a while now. I was into saltwater tanks many years ago and am approaching retirement and thought I needed a hobby!! So I am expecting a Cade 1500 s2 on tuesday! I am sure there will be lots of requests for advice and help as this hobby is guite a bit different from 40 years ago….. when a yellow tang cost all of $10-15 btw!!

Good choice for a tank! Can't wait to see the tank setup! What are you planning on doing with the tank once you get it in person?

Thanks, so tomorrow is the big day! Can’t wait. I have been messing with the CaribSea rock trying to come up with a scape. I am planning on a mixed reef with softies/ lps and fish. I haven’t really gotten much further than that. I am trying to learn all i can about dr tim’s and a fairly clean cycle. I also have tried to learn about the biome cycle and am flirting with some tampa saltwater rubble and see what happens.
I am experienced enough to know it is a process and cannot be rushed, so I suspect it will be a few months before the fish and corals really start going in.
Thanks for the interest. I am sure there will be a bunch of questions and am looking forward to getting the build thread going, once there is something to see!

Hello and Welcome back to the hobby and to R2R! It is amazing how much the hobby has developed and how expensive it can be. I really enjoy having LED lighting as the programming, intensity level and ramping up and down really makes the tank flourish.

Yep, but i am going way back. I think i paid about $20 for a snowflake eel. My yellow tang(wild caught) was about $15! Things are definitely different now!!!
