HOB filter

So Im curious to see if they have people out there with success stories with HOB filter tanks that are around 55 gallons? Here is mine

75 with 2 hob and a fluval canister filter. The two hob have rubble and carbon in them.

my reefing/hunting/fishing buddy has a 6ft 100gal that he runs 2 hob's
he use's the standard filters with them and rinse's them often and changed bout once a month
runs a hob skimmer to
his water is crestal clear n look great

You absolutely can have success using HOB(s) on a DT. The main downside is nowhere to hide all your equipment (like down in the sump). I also recommend using a HOB skimmer to remove organics.

Siphon detritus out as it accumulates in the tank, and also clean out your HOB regularly so it doesn’t turn into a detritus trap. Excessive detritus = high nitrates.

Canister cleaned monthly. That’s a pain but my middle son loves to help. :(He gets a kick out of all the life in the canister. He really loves the pods. o_OHe collects them and dumps them into the tank. :D
