I want to QT my inverts before they go into the DT but my concern is that they won't have enough algae in QT to make it through.

How do you QT? Do you supplement to make sure they don't starve?

I feed 1/2 sheet of nori and use seaweed extreme pellets. As soon as the nori is gone, I replace it. Otherwise, I crank the lights to 100% to get as much algae growth in my invert qt tank.

I don’t QT Inverts as well. It’s widely known that inverts are kept in totally different systems than the fish are kept in. Therefore there is almost no chance of Ick getting into the inverts system.

I've seen the other one but this one is pretty useful! I would have figured that you would QT starfish too. My main concern is inverts starving in QT.

I've been to some fish stores where the inverts are in the same system or there is high potential for cross contamination. My philosophy is that it doesn't hurt to have some snails cruising in a different tank for a little while to be safer for the DT.

I also don't quarantine inverts. But then again, I don't quarantine anything so don't go by me. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I've got a 10g I keep running with some sand, a couple pounds of live rock, and some chaeto that I use for invert QT, but I realize not everyone has the space to keep a dedicated invert QT running. What are you looking to QT? If attempting to QT snails in a fresh setup, I'd recommend putting some live rock in if possible and supplementing with some nori rubberbanded to a rock.

I plan to QT all inverts, mostly snails, crabs, and maybe a shrimp or two. I want to QT them and have them ready for when the DT needs them. The tank would probably also have corals as a combined QT system then it will eventually become a place to put corals once I don't need to replenish inverts as much.

Seems like a good plan and similar to how I've used my tank. I've found crabs and shrimp easy to QT even in a relatively new setup, but I've definitely had better luck with snails now that the QT is more mature and there is a healthy amount of algae and biofilm on the glass. FWIW I do 45 days at 80F.

I use an end of line system as my invert/coral qt. My apex does auto water changes from my display to the invert qt tank and at the same time is doing a auto water change from the invert tank down the drain. This way I don't have to try to maintain parameters in two different tanks. It's not exactly equal, but it's close enough.
