So I’m just watching my tank and all of a sudden I see a familiar fish swimming in the return pump media.

When I put him back I noticed the royal gramma flaring at the firefish until he darts away. I’m concerned he’ll wind up back in the filter. How the heck did this happen and how do I prevent it from happening again?

Yeah, I'd make sure you have enough hiding spots for it and other fish. Mine took over a cave immediately when I put it in. My Bicolor Blenny is not too fond of it and will chase it, must think it looks like a Blenny as well.

Here’s the thing though, the basslet thinks the whole place is his. I’d totally rearrange the rocks if I didn’t glue them together ;Facepalm The basslet likes to keep each territory, residing in every rock, depending on convenience. However, I plan to add a rock in the front to give the firefish a new home. Any thoughts on keeping him from re-entering the filter?
It’s pretty crazy, seeings the hole is only this big
