Found this pic by @Streetdoc77 in the monti show off thread, and it got me thinking... well, first I thought that it's a really cool pic! and then I thought, I wonder how many others are doing something similar. Post up your pics of coral on overflow boxes!

I like the Cyphastrea on the back, I still have monti's and added a scroll to my overflow but now I think I'll try a few frags of cyphastrea on top also. I gotta scrape the coralline from time to time anyway, it's aggressive but looks good

Thanks ! I think we are at 2 1/2 years the plug in the center is the mother plug and the other plugs I mounted for fragging purposes, its about a half inch thick around my fragging plugs .

I fragged a piece of undata for a buddy that mounted to his overflow , it looks awesome ! Undata is a slow grower though . I would suggest that if your using cyphastrea on montipora add frag plugs around the main plugs it's a great way to have fully encrusted frags for sale or trade , once you pluck one off you can just put another one in its place .

Thanks for bringing this back up Daniel! I think I'm going to find a Meteor Shower or similar cyphastrea for my center overflow. Just plain old coralline is boring.

Cleaning the back glass is a pain, so I'm interested in the cyphastrea approach. The only concern long-term would be keeping it away from the powerheads.

Or a super-cool chalice...if PAR levels allow. Imagine the back wall looking like this...
