Bit unusual of a question but I have a birds nest colony that is growing faster than the rest of my corals. It’s broken off a few times and one of those frags settled between two of my acros and encrusted before I could catch it. I’ve scraped this off the rock a few times but it just keeps growing back stronger than the last time with more encrusted branches. Any advice on how to get rid of it? I like the coral but I have other colonies of this now and it’s going to encroach on my acros.

Drain tank and take a Torch to the coral you don't want. Just don't get the flame or heat on anything you don't want dead. Other options include adding chemicals to the tank.

Break off as much as you can and kalk paste the rest.
Or break and cover with something so no light hits it.

A few options-
-frag it as much as possible, then place kalk paste on it for about 10m
-cover with reef putty after fragging
-drain the tank a bit or pull the rock -- pour denatured or isopropyl(70%+) alcohol on it -- careful not to drip it on anything else, but, this will KILL it almost instantly. I did this with a monti (got all in the cracks and stuff) and this was the only true way to get it all.

This is unconventional but I use vinegar to kill off unwanted pests. I carbon dose anyway so I gave it a shot. Just be careful not to hit something you want to keep. To date I've used it on aptasia and a patch of bryopsis successfully. Turn off all flow and dose it on the unwanted pest. I usually leave the pumps off for a few minutes.

I have about 2 inches on either side before two of my favorite acro colonies. Which one do you think is less likely to harm the neighbors?
