Mine is on the floor in the garage. I have a hose bib just outside the garage door that I use when I’m making water. I don’t know how many times I have flooded the garage but the water runs out the driveway when I do and that has been a life saver.
Exact same situation here lol.

Mine is outside on top of a rack inside of a Husky storage container to protect it from the sun. Spills are no big deal. I have a couple rolling rubbermaid trashcans to deal with water changes. I'm in southern California so there's no danger of freezing the RO unit.

I don't have a sink or anything in the garage so the entire setup sits outside on our back padio.
I recommend putting the RO unit inside of an opaque plastic container to protect the unit from the elements. I used to get algae in the micron filter chamber until I got the container (even though the unit was in the shade with a tarp draped over it).

Mines just outside on a stand next to the house, in shade, literally right behind the tank along with a brute 44g container. Been meaning to get a cabinet to house the RODI and a larger container. I'll get to it one of these days lol.

I'm out of room, I stuck it on the wall behind the water heater. The waste water dumps into the condensate drain for the AC. The smaller PVC lines in front are for my whole home dehumidifier mounted in the attic.

Mine was originally mounted in my laundry room, after a few months hauling many 5G buckets up two levels of stairs my back was telling me to stop lol. Moved it to my upstairs under my sink and I got a new faucet where I can connect it quickly when needed. Out of the way when not in use and no more dragging buckets around

laundry room gang where you at‍? lol
How many gallons of water in the mixing station and/or how many fish tanks need to be in the room until it no longer get referred to as the laundry room? We have compromised and refer to it as the laundry in the fish room. :)

Loft space as nowhere else available here. System still under development. Plan is some sort of leakage catching gutter underneath, just in case
