Hi all! I'm Deb. I'm 65, live in Central Texas and am getting back into the hobby. I've had fresh tanks and my last tank was in the mid 90's, a 20 gallon marine.
Recently I found a FREE 55 gallon and stand in my neighborhood. My wife and I have decided to do a reef. We've been watching numerous YouTube vids.
The tank will be set up 2 weeks this Saturday. I'm doing old school filtration with a Marineland back of tank filter for 75 gallons, have an Eheim heater, thermometer. We purchased some dry Rock from our local aquarium store and used 60#s of Caribsea Fiji Pink sand, which is quite lovely!
On our 3rd week we are thinking of getting 2 pairs of clowns, Perculas and Darwin's. We do not have any anemones yet. Would this be a good time to add a couple as well for the clowns? The water is within parameters and I can see a bit of green algae starting to form on the rocks. I've been researching about lawn mower critters, which do y'all find to be the easiest for a new reef hobbyist? We DO NOT have the lights on yet.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. And I'm happy I found y'all!

Welcome to Reef2reef Deb! Clownfish do not need anemones. Wait 6 months to a year before you add your first anemones. To start your CUC (clean up crew), try getting some snails. Then you add to your CUC as your tank needs. Best of luck and happy reefing!

Welcome Deb, glad you are here! As mentioned by the great and all knowing @WalkerLovesTheOcean your tank needs to be mature and stable before adding an anemone. It would be a great time to start your pod population.
