Can a hydros Sole be controlled with a regular float switch ? I assume I can hook a float switch to a sense port and have the Sole turn on when the float is down and turn off when the float is up ??

Sure can! Any output (SOLE DOSER) can be controlled from a number of inputs (Float Sensor).

Are you planning on using it for ATO? I use one for that. Here is the two outputs screenshots for doing that. I have several inputs controlling my ATO but you can do it with on water level sensor. The first three screenshots are of the ATO output. It actually had an output device setup and directly controlled the pump but with the Sole you will need to set it up like the forth screenshot where it is set to run constantly at a specific flow rate. Then use the depends on settings to control on and off using the other output setup as an ATO output.

well, no. What I want it used for is to feed a calcium reactor based on the output of an IFM Pressure Sensor (long story). Short version-A pressurized calcium reactor needs vented to get rid of gas that isn’t co2 and replenish water and CO2 to a certain pressure. Want to use one sole pump to dose 500ml/hr of effluent out of the calcium reactor and another sole to feed the reactor water based on the IFM Pressure sensor (that will be triggered by the loss of pressure because of the dosed effluent and also the once a day venting) I have a GHL Maxi 2.2 which works flawless but is so loud it could wake the dead. Brainstorming a silent option.

you can still control it this way as long as the output used for control is a single output and not a reactor output with more than one actual output. If you already have an output setup then all you would need to do is setup one for the Sole and use the original output for control using the depends on setting in the Sole output like I did with my ATO. Then just set the output device in the original output to none. The original output will still control with logic even without an output device setup.

Currently I have a mini din to control the GHL all I need to do is make GX12 connections for the Hyros to control the Sole.

I assume you are referring to the float switch and connecting it to a sense port?

Yeah. I’ll just make everything gx12 on the calcium reactor controller and cable and use the sense port.
The Sole does not have any ports other than the two control bus ports and the power supply port so you will need at least one other Hydros controller that has the port you need. You will also need a command bus cable and at least one terminator to connect the controllers together and create a collective.

Yup. X2 should work.

The Sole can power the X2 if it comes with a power supply it cannot be used with the Sole anyway since it would be the one that connects directly to a command bus port and those supplies cannot be used with any other source of power on the sytem.

I currently have a wave engine v2 and a wave engine LE….plan to add the x2 for the sense port and the sole to be controlled as a result of the sense port is this configuration not feasible? I’m not understanding what you are trying to say exactly.

Some of the packages with the X2 come with a power supply. If you get one of the packages with the power supply don't use it since those supplies are not isolated. the controllers with a separate port port for power like the wave engines and Sole have the isolation built into the controller between the power port and the command bus so they are ok to use together. with any of those in a collective you do not need that supply anyway since a wave engine or the Sole will power the X2. Rule is if the power supply has a command bus plug then don't use it in a collective with another source of power such as the wave engines or the Sole unless there is a data only type command bus used between the other sources of power and those typ supplies. If you are getting controller only then it does not come with a supply.

I still don’t understand because every piece of hydros equipment has a command bus plug. And all the power supplies have a bus plug.

No quite a few have a separate power port instead of using the command bus. Those include your wave engines, X10, XD, Sole, Kraken and Maven. The XP8 and Launch have an AC cord and the power supply is built into the controller. Those are considered power givers. Then there are the X2, X3, X4, Minnow and XS that do not have a separate power port or AC cord and get their power from the command bus via either another controller that is a power giver or a power supply that connects to the command bus port. That is the only power supply that has an issue being connected with another source of power but with the wave engines and Sole it is not needed to power the X2 since any one of the three other controllers will power it using the command bus cable. The power port has only 4 pins on it. The command bus has 5 pins.

Hmmm. Didn’t know some equipment would have a power supply plugged into a command port. Thought only power supplies would plug into the power port.

I’m using the power supplies for both my wave engines. I plan on also using the power supply that comes with the Sole. I am not going to use a power supply with the X2. Will I be using too many power supplies? Do I only need 1 for all and another for backup power if the 1 power supply fails? Or do I need power supply for every unit that has a power port ?
