I confess...I like to rub my butt!

Any suggestions for a good dry rub?

• I tablespoon of paprika
• 2 tablespoons firmly packed dark brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons kosher salt or garlic salt
• 2 tablespoons garlic powder
• 1 tablespoon fresh-ground black pepper
• 1 tablespoon chili powder
• 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste
• 1 tablespoon onion powder
• 1 tablespoon ground dried chipotle chili pepper
• 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
• 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard powder
• 1 teaspoon of onion powder
• 1 tablespoon of oregano seasoning

I rub my shoulder roast for five minutes butt I get a happy ending every time.

Spritzed every hour with a maple syrup apple cider mixture, I tap my trees and make my maple syrup. Rub applied with a mustard base.

I used to inject a mixture of apple juice and rub throughout the butt. It did make it very tender but it seemed to not allow a lot of smoke penetration. It would taste more sweet than smoky. I stopped injecting a couple butts back and I won't do it again. I think it just tastes better without. Plus once the butt reaches 205 then it just falls apart anyways... mmmm
