Hhmmmm diesel I see your point but a question or for any of you. I have a green slimmer started as a 1/2 in frag and has now grown to a 4 in piece with 3 1in branches. I this good growth for a year?

Real hobbyist love to sometimes have frags so they can see it grow and feel accomplished. If you have the money to buy colonies and don't have the patience then spend the bigger bucks.

That's a LIE...you can have a breathtaking tank like that started from just frags....j/k and Wooooow

My point is because I don't care for the rare corals, I could get mini colonies for only a bit more then frags.....of course like Diesel's tank its really awesome to see the changes over the years.......I love this hobby for the beauty of the animals so that is really all that is important to me

I don't like buying colonies unless they are simple. Like zoas or softies. I like to watch my corals take shape. It's like underwater bonsai.

Like this one?

1 inch frag, I've fragged it a few times and glued it in various positions and it's growing like mad. This is 8 months.

It's more that I end up losing frags from either falling and getting lost or no growth and I lose patience having it ruin a tank full of colonys.....my issue is definitely more with LPS but SPS as well.....I've had a frag rack but I thought it was an eyesore....

o acans are better growers for me than sps believe it or not i can turn 1 headed frags into 8 heads in a couple months :)

Agreed on acans....that's like the only frag I've had success with.

I can't answer that for you as I don't have additional info and don't know your tank.
Most members make pics from their starting frag and show it off when it grows.
