I have a yellow tang, firefish, lawnmower blenny, 2 percula clowns, green chromis in a 75 gallon pretty much fowlr tank. I am interested in reef so I want something reef safe. I want to upgrade my tank but I won't get bigger than a 90. I need help picking a fish that won't leave me broke. A cool wrasse, hippo tang. I need a starting point lol

i personally woudlnt add any more tangs to a tank taht size. even a 90g, yes people do it but there will be alot of people who say not to and ill be one of them and the first one here. hippo's for one get really big, and like lots of room to swim.

i would suggest a fairy, or flasher wrasse lots of pretty ones out there and can get nice ones that wont break the bank.

I second the wrasse! They have so many varieties that do so many different things and have so many different colors!

lemon peel angel, or maybe some dottybacks they should be able to hold their own as long as they're not tank raised (too docile, easily beaten up), royal grammas are nice and colorful also

A fairy wrasse would be a perfect fit. They are colorful, animated, swim openingly and an overall model take mate. That's my vote!

You could easily do like a trio of McCoskers flasher wrassers in there, or even a pair of Lineatus or Flames on the higher end. Just make sure your tank is covered, cause they like to jump.

I also agree with not getting another tang. It would be nice but I dont need it stressed out. To date, my tang is the most expensive fish I've bought and he is as healthy as could be. Im looking for different colors on the tank so a lemonpeel is out for the time being. I'll definitely have to look into the many types of wrasse that are available. Trying to stay under the 50 dollar mark until my confidence builds.

Oh, and I currently have an open top to my aquarium. I'm just excited o get something new haha. I picked up a handful of Mexican turbo snails a couple weeks ago and enjoy watching them clean up. I have zoanthids and mushrooms under a 2 bulb t5 setup with a t8 to compliment them. I'm thinking about a Kenya tree! Sorry, I just hit the point where the tank excites me again....I know we've all been through it!

I would suggest against adding a kenya tree, that is unless you want hundreds of them after a while :). As for a fish, i love my flasher wrasse's. Ive got 1 DD Solomon Island flasher male and 1 female red fairy. Im looking to add a female labout fairy someday when $ allows.

Or maybe even possibly a goby or two? I love my yellow watchmen and my rainfords goby.

Stay with a smaller fish maybe something like a Hectori goby, Royal Gramma, or something similar.
Maybe even a bottom dwelling goby.

A bottom dwelling goby is a possibility as long as it doesn't clash with my blenny. I need a bigger tank!!!!!!! A royal gramma is on the "to do" list. As for the Kenya tree, maybe I'll pass.....I just want something haha.

Just br careful in that royal grammas can get aggressive after they've been in the tank a while, especially to new comers.

In my opinion, do not get a dottyback of any sort. I have never had a nice one. I second any vote that goes for a wrasse.

I still vote for a pair of flashers or other fish that you can enjoy watch court or flash for you. Wrasses in general will swim around a lot, so you'd definitely get some viewing pleasure from them :)

Yeah, I'll definitely have a trio or harlem of these guys once I get a bigger tank. I can't wait to see the male flash and court for the females. Should be fun to watch.

We're in the same size tank as you and started with about the same fish. We have a pink diamond goby that's a great addition but one little guy we added which we enjoy (and so do the kids) is our sixlined wrasse. The bf wanted a coral beauty angel but we took in a pygmy angel which is doing quite well. Just be sure that you read up on anything that you are considering and don't buy on impulse.

Not buying on impulse is the hardest part at times haha. Up to this point I have managed to be good though. It sounds as if Everyone is loving flasher wrasses! I must say, they are quite beautiful. Liveaquaria has a male longfin flasher but I can't pay in shipping what I pay for the fish. I'll have to contact a trusted lfs after I read up on wrasses I little more.

Being that you are in Cali, I'm sure you could find somebody who could get that in for you. Is your tank covered? You'd need to keep it covered for any wrasses.

Although I'll apparently need to put a barbed wire fence above my tank to keep a wrasse from leaping out.
