I forgot the name of this LPS. It is about 30 inches below. My powerhead, which is at the surface. The powerhead is blowing north if you can imagine that and. the coral is leaning east way below it.

This is obviously too much flow, but I have tried to put it in various places and no matter where I put it I’m getting this effect of the coral blowing in this direction

A trumpet coral is gently rocking to the flow. Zoas don’t move it all.

If I surround by live rock, I’m thinking that may shield it from the flow, but will that make it too dark?

dumb question, but I am befuddled by this

More info please.

A full tank shot would be helpful, so that we can see the coral in relation to the power head position.

Also, how big is your tank (LxWxH)?

Finally, which power head do you have? I'm guessing it isn't DC?

72 by 24 wide 29 high 210 gallon

not DC it’s a SICCE voyager 4 1 speed I’m not home so can’t get a full tank video under white light till tomorrow

In the short term is this harmful if not corrected for a few days?

Its fine for now. In fact, were it my tank, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I thought that the tank would have been smaller with the way it is moving. I imagine that in a 210 gallon tank, you probably have more than one power head. If so, I would suggest pointing power heads at each other. This makes flow "chaotic", as it should be.

When power heads are all pointed in the same direction, its like stirring a pot.

looks like xenia to me. i suggest tossing it though because it will bud and take over rocks in a healthy reef tank. which smothers other corals to death
looks good when small but 1 piece breaks off and lands in the back of the tank and you will be pulling it out for years

definitely a soft coral and not an lps. i wouldnt trust that employee with answering anymore questions if they couldnt tell the difference.
to easily identify if it is a pulsing xenia specifically turn the flow low and if the polyps are opening and closing frequently it is gonna be a super fast grower.
blue cespitularia grows slower i believe but hard to identify without low flow and the blues turned down

Thank you for your input. It is a blue cespitularia and my apologies to my LFS it was not sold to me as an LPS. It was sold as a softy. I know fish. I’m slowly understanding, coral The only LPS I have in here are a hammer and a trumpet.

With that said here is a view of the entire tank any further thoughts about where to place ? As you can see, it’s well below power heads.
