Ice cap 18w drop in UV for AIO

Curious if anyone has or is using this and their thoughts on it . According to the specs it would fit perfectly with a little room left over in one of the back chambers . The small one pictured does not have an adjustment knob though so not sure where that is as it says you can adjust the pump. Perhaps it is in the controller, where the larger units have a valve to turn.
18w might be overkill for a 33 gallon but if it is adjustable that would be a plus.

If you have an AIO then you can just drop a cheap UV light for $20 in one of the back chambers.

I thought about that but I’ve heard doing that without cover and full UV exposed in a small area it can degrade your silicone seams over time and while the back wall is black i think it is not full black but more of a opaque so I would see the light through it I think.

I've got a 40W in a 150 with 40 gallon sump and its working nicely. It is sheathed, so the above comment about degrading the seams would not seem to apply. I like it because you can adjust the flow to fast or slow. I run mine from 0715 to 2100 daily.

If you are concerned you could put it in a pvc pipe with openings at the top and bottom to allow water flow.

I have a cheap uv light in Al my tanks. My waterbox has an opaque rear display wall so I have in media chamber box which is black plastic.

I thought about that today, I could get pvc pipe and suction it in there. Just need I find a good light on Amazon. If it is open at the bottom and top I assume it will pass through just fine in the back chamber of my AIO. Hopefully it will be just as effective as one with a pump. I’m using a axis 4o return so I think the lower flow through it in the back chamber will be enough to help with any nuisance algae’s etc,

You just have a light inside like a pvc pipe or you have the ice cap one? If just the light in a pipe, How are you adjusting your flow? Your return itself? Thanks for the feedback!
