Although I went back to using T5 2 years ago but here is the DIY LED project that I did about 2 years ago, so just wanted to share the works that I did with every body.

I have not tried this light on a 4 ft tank but it was capable of growing sps on a 3ft tank at 65% intensity

Thanks for looking

All LED parts were bought from RAPIDLED, Resistors, Fuses & misc were from Radio Shack

4 CREE Blue LEDs
16 CREE Royal Blue LEDS
12 CREE Cool White LEDs
2 CREE RED
2 CREE Green

2 Mean Well ELN-60-48D dimmable driver (using just two drivers because the wiring was done in parallel as oppose to serial)

No I was not a tech person... I did not even have a clue on how LED work and how to do even the soldering.

Did most of the learning from online and from a friend at work.

Mike at RapidLED was helping me out a lot as well.

Looks nice. I like the color.

You must be a tech person too. I like the recycled Cisco rack brackets ;)

Ha! The first thing I noticed was the angle brackets holding the heatsink to the wood. They are identical to the ones we use on our networking equipment. I have salvaged and recycled the same brackets many times.

I would have never known this was your first ump into LED. You did a great job.
