Few more corals arrived and an order waiting to heal up:

I love this purple singulara. Unlike anything else I have seen, Pablo has this to say about it:

Hi Bret, I am glad you are happy with your order and thanks for your comment regarding the corals. The purple Sinularia is very unique, and I have purchased this corals I believe more than 10 years ago. It grows flat but with timé develops finger polyps growing upward.

That’s all! They looked pretty rough on arrival but the wrasses both ate today so good news. The fat head might take a bit longer but it appears to be in better shape overall.

still nice job blue zoo. So much better than LA now and I was a huge LA fan.

Figured would add some gorgs. I had many years ago and they were great, in my waterbox they were dino magnets and I gave them away. I hope they work out here. I am trying again since I have the big lifeguard UV plumbed in the return and don’t see Dino’s in the DT at all.

This order came a couple weeks ago after healing. The Yuma are nothing amazing but the pink lemonade is nice. My koji hasn’t done well, shrinking down but now slightly growing so will have to just wait and see.

also oddly enough both types of Cespitularia died off despite growing and encrusting for a while. Mysteries!

Gorgs came in, some in better shape than others. Still as long as they have some tissue I can remount and grow so not a big deal. 2 day shipping is hard on some of those guys.

Also got a biota Palau pink sea fan today. Shipping cost just as much as it did, but worth it!

Wow.. What a journey. I feel like I watched a whole movie! The ending is amazing though. Never seen a softy tank look this good. When I get my large tank will def. use yours as inspiration.

BTW. Where did you get the pulsing sinularia?

Couple updates. I noticed my stock tank sump leaking! Developed a small crack somehow. Perhaps I should have put the foam on the block and rested the tank on plywood or just added more support in general. You can see it sagging.
IMG_3180.jpeg

So I spent a very long day buying a new Rubbermaid, couple more 44g brutes, some new 3/4” plywood and more cement blocks.
I used a canister filter filled with polyfill to transfer the water, figured might as well eliminate detritus. Put the new tub in place and refill it all along with drilling the lip as before for attaching lights and such. I also moved it off the wall couple inches.

Yuck. Still cleaner than expected for years old.

finished with the added blocks and changed the foam order

So a long time back I disconnected my skimmer from outside air. It didn’t help that much and tended to make the ventri clog even with an apex off time to flush the intake. It also tended to make the skimmer overflow randomly. Not sure if from pollen or what but exactly.

I decided to calibrate the ph probe for fun, it’s about 2 years old, brs double junction. Ph was showing 7.5 to 7.6. Now I know that can’t be correct with alk being 8 or so, but no doubt ph is very low.

So despite not having any stony coral I decided to try co2 scrubbing but mostly recirculating from skimmer. Why? Well that low of ph is in the range to impact fish, softies and inverts and I think my sand has been dissolving. I know some have worried oxygen might be a problem but I run chaeto 24/7 light and have gone skimmerless before so I’m not worried about oxygenation issues.

Plus it’s a fun experiment!

Ordered the jumbo double from brs along with tubing and fittings and have it hooked to an empty dual DI container I has sitting around to help with condensation.

Who doesn’t like to fuss around!
