Hey folks. I'm brand new to saltwater tanks and aquariums. I'm wondering what basic stuff will I need for beginning my aquarium, and what are some good fish and invertebrates to start off with? Thanks!

The first thing you will need is cash. The sky is the limit from there. Jk

Well, find a spot for your tank and what size you want. Just try to avoid a spot in the sunlight since that could increase your algae. After than plan around your tank size with filters and heaters and stuff.

What size tank were you thinking of btw? :)

Thank you for all your kind words! What tank size do you recommend for a beginner, and what are the easiest creatures to maintain?

Welcome to r2r. I just set up my first s/w tank about 5 weeks ago I picked up the Nuvo 40 and I think that it's a perfect starter tank. Best advice I can give you is READ and RESEARCH as much as you can to plan out what you want to do in the hobby.

You need cash, credit, and Paypal (Paypal Credit is really nice too). If you are married you will need a good poker face and a place to hide shipping boxes...and a separate bank acct! Yeah, that will get you started! ;)Welcome to the addiction!

Welcome to R2R! The best place to come for advice. Best advice is to read, then ask specific questions about species, equipment, etc. We are glad you are part of the reefing community!
