I made my first online order. Lots of snails, crabs and some fish. UPS just informed me my delivery is going to be 25 hours late. So that will make them stay in those bags for over 48 hours. What can I expect on arrival?

Depends on a lot of factors. The weather, how well the animals were packed up, and how delayed your package is.

We’ve all experienced this. If the weather isn’t extreme and the animals were well packaged your fish will probably be ok. Personally I never order snails or hermits online because I’ve always had an unacceptable mortality rate. The inverts typically have a harder time with shipping delays.

Any reputable vendor will guarantee a live arrival, so you should (hopefully) have that going for you. If the bags are cold I’d float them for 20-30 min to get the temp up. Then acclimate per the vendor’s instructions.

Yup, better now than January or July! Hope for the best, and be sure to take pictures when you get the package.

Nice!

I don't do anything but overnight, and I prefer fedex. Still doesn't mean I won't get delays, but so far, with 5 orders done, everything has come in on time.

My first invert order from AlgeBarn was lost/delayed for a few days. Half were DOA. I took pictures and sent to their customer service. They replaced my order with no problem and paid shipping.

Ok, I didn't get them last night. UPS somehow didn't get them on a truck. They are supposed to be here today. I'm preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. I'll let you know what happens. UPS is on my list now!

Hoping for the best. The fish and crabs are the biggest concern, I've had snails shipped priority mail with no problems. Don't do a long acclimation

Ok, update. The fish arrived, I thought they where both dead, they where upside down not moving. I put the bags in the tank and after about 6 minutes they started moving. I transferred them to an acclimating container. They both started swimming. They are now in the tank. The Tomini is doing really good but the royal gramma is just sitting on the bottom. He's still breathing so I hope he comes out of it. They both look very healthy other than the side effects from shipping. Most of the snails made it. Thanks to @Dr. Reef for all your help.

Nice!

Sadly I'd love to support the LFSes around me, but I've had very bad luck with livestock from them.... I don't like the idea of shipping critters, but they are all much healthier than I've experienced locally.

I've had a fish sound like your gramma, and he came around in a few hours, hid for a couple days, and was just fine after that.

Let us know how they do over the weekend. I will extend our guarantee on them for now in case something goes wrong.
