Hello everyone I'm currently preparing to cut out wall and place a frame into place for a reef aquarium. The thing that's bugging me is if I have the glass flush with the wall at the front of the display wouldn't the frame get splashed and wet and also wet the drywall?

I'll paint the frame so the water doesn't ruin the frame and I can line the back side of the wall (paper side of drywall) with vapor barrier so it doesn't get soaked but I'm wondering how people normally address this issue. My other half would kill me if the living room wall gets ruined. I told her this will look nice 😅

I'd think you could just silicone the edge of the wall that meets the tank so nothing leaks thru to the display side, and then use a waterproof paint on the wet side wall?

I never thought of that siliconing around the edge would definitely solve that issue thank you! I'm planning on having the stand against the wall with the frame in it but not actually touching it. But putting silicone around the edge of the frame would keep splashing from spreading to the wall in the living room and that's exactly what I want to avoid. Thanks again I'm definitely going to try that.
