I did a first ICP on a 2 month old tank.
Test came back showing extremely high metals, but corals look fine. Mostly SPS, which seem to be doing okay, so I had a hard time believing the results.
I did a separate at home test, and showed no copper or iron. Just to be safe I am running poly filter and cuprisorb.
Curious if anyone else had this happen in the past?

What home test? I'm not aware of any that can accurately read those iron (10 ppb) and copper (6 ppb) levels, and they are not high enough to be a clear problem, IMO.

Some folks dose iron far higher, and Red Sea actually recommends (or at least did recommend)100 ppb.

Interesting, good to know.
I used a salifert copper test, as well as a strip test.. I figured the copper strip test would not pick it up. Maybe the salifert either.

I do not think any of those can. :)

Hello,

metals in your tank are far from "extremely high" - more of a "slightly elevated". Acute problems are unlikely, but look for the source, you dont want copper to rise higher. Also dont wait too long for the next test, in case levels are rising.

There is unfortunately no way to measure µg/l levels of trace elements at home.

All the best, Christoph
