So about 3 weeks ago I walked into my lfs and saw this odd looking frag in the 49.99 section where they put all the random coral. It took me back because it was so out of place but looked amazing. A part of me thought it was a scoly so I asked some one and they had no idea. Finally some one said it’s either a scoly or favia. So I had them set it aside until I could snag it up. Came back just in time because they set it back out. Finally got the chance to ask the owners son and he assured me it was a favia, even though it looked like a smaller version of the blue one they had else where. Anyways I’ll cut to it. Everything I thought pointed to a scoly, so I just got around to tossing some mysis shrimp and wam! No doubt in my mind lol hopefully. Anyways for now it’s sitting with the other favia but I have a octoaquatic dish coming that I can set it in but at the moment it looks like it’s doing great. Also the fish store had it under the same par as the rest of the mussidae and favia. So finally got me a scoly that wasn’t to crazy expensive, or at least something that seems to be. Definitely a center piece for my tank at the moment. Hope you all enjoy, happy reefing!

I hope it is a scoly because it looks like a Goniastrea that I bought as a single head frag a while back.

I’ve got a goni on the other side and they look to be polar opposites, the Goni will expand its tentacles but doesn’t expand its flesh like this one has. When I initially put it in the tank it was about half the size But now it’s about doubled with the tissue expansion. But again I’m not 100% sure, either way I appreciate the input and hopefully as you say it is a scoly

It looks pretty similar to how my dragon soul favia looked. They will puff up like that and put out feeders like that. It is very round though...... Time will tell for sure. If it’s a favia you will get new heads in short order.
