Just got a 53 gallon AIO. Installed the ink bird wifi controller with a BRS 200 watt heater on one side and the dual probes on another. Set temp to 78, the high alarm to 79, and low alarm to 77. My home temp is usually about 75 degrees. This thing is all over the place. First night low alarm went off at 76.9. This controller won’t keep a stable temperature. Not sure if I’m dong something wrong or just made a bad choice getting this controller. Let me know what you think or have had any similar issues with this controller.
Thank You.

I have two of them and no problems, I first make sure my heater is set a the temp I want and once it is keeping the tank where I want it, then I set my inkbird up.

Make sure the probes are always immersed in water. What chamber do you have them in? If they are in the chamber with the return pump that water level will fluctuate which could lead to one or both probes being out of the water till your ato brings level back up.

Drop the low alarm to 75 and see if that works. Your heater may not be able to keep up.
I run 4 Aqualogic controllers and it keeps the systems very stable. I run no alarms and it never drops below 77 with the house at 74.
I will never run anything else.
Another option is to.get a 300 watt and see if it holds.

I have one with two BRS 600 heaters on it. You can only set the swing to a minimum of 1 degree so you need to move your alarms to at least a couple of degrees either side of your set temp. I go between 77 and 78.5 all day. So my alarms are 76 and 80.

This^^^. Move the alarms farther away from the set point. If you have the temp set at 78, the Inkbird will turn the heater on at 77. Then the water temp will probably coast down a few 1/10's till the heater catches up. You're heating a large mass of water with a small coil of heat, it can take some time.

They’re in the chamber next to the return pump and down about 3 inches below the water line. Should be well submerged. I also just put a second 100 watt heater in with its own temp controller. Plugged it into the second outlet on the ink bird and it didn’t come on but came on in a separate outlet. Shouldn’t both of those be live.
Thanks for your advice.

I did drop my temp to 76. Still not holding a stable 78. Drops down to 77. Also added another 100 watt with its own controller. Plugged it into the second outlet on the ink bird and it didn’t come on but came on when plugged into another outlet. Shouldn’t both those be live.
Thank for your recommendation.

Good advice. I did just that and it has dropped to 77 a few times and 78.5. Still within acceptable ranges

Mine cycles between 77.4 and 78.3 every two hours.
2-500 watt heaters on 300g
My high is 80 and low is 76.
Has been an outstanding controller for me.
No false alarms in 5 years, but two real alarms which shut heaters down.
Probes closest to overflow, about 1” apart and heater, downstream.
