Introducing the Hydros Maven

Here’s the update we shared during our 2024 HYDROS State of the Union. We explained that the release was delayed because, during research and development, we uncovered exciting opportunities to improve the machine. Rather than rushing out a version 1 and following up with a version 2 shortly after, we decided to prioritize our customers by creating a device that is exceptional from the start—easy to set up, easy to maintain, user-friendly, and incredibly reliable.

For more details, watch the video with Carlos and David here:

I'm waiting for version 3 which may (or may not) wash filter socks for me.

Seriously, where is my trial unit?

Thanks for the reply Connor, really appreciate it.

Hopefully it's not too far off. There's a "perfect is the enemy of good" balance here and hopefully you manage to strike it.

I just placed an order for a Trident and NP after I had to move some pumps off my WaveEngine, I'm probably not going to get a better time to switch ecosystems and unfortunately I've waited long enough here. 12 months between announcement and release starts to feel a little manipulative to your customer base, for what it's worth.

Does the exciting opportunity also increase the price?

I mean it washes filter socks... isn't that worth a bit more?
I haven’t watched the link or heard what the new feature is.

If it’s washing filter socks, I don’t run filter socks so in my case, I don’t want to pay for an extra feature. I really don’t want to pay for any extra feature at the price tag they have now.

They are kidding on that. there is the Klir filter roller that you can already control with the Hydros so no need to add that to the Maven, but with a sense port, drive port and adapter cable set I believe you can control the Klir. I think the Maven has a couple of those ports.

Any update on the Maven release? its been dead silent since the December announcement.
More than likely you will not hear anything until the units are ready to ship to the dealers. There are settings for using the Maven in the app and firmware though.

If you think you need a water tester you just haven’t learned your lesson yet. Don’t be an early adopter. You’re welcome.

I don't need a water tester. I currently test all 3 of my tanks weekly by hand. I do one on Friday evening, the next Saturday morning, and the final one on Sunday morning.

So, do I need a tester? No.

Does anyone really need a tester? No.

Would it be nice to have? Oh heck yes.

The Maven can do two tanks if they are within the right range form it. I have no idea what the limit is since I don't have one yet. I know my two will be to far apart since they are over 50ft away from each other.

Whaaaat!? 2 tanks with 1 machine...Whaaat, no way!? I was only planning on trying one out on one tank but, if it can do 2 tanks on one machine, soooooo...cool.

Here is a screenshot where I was playing with the Maven output type. I don't have one so I didn't save anything.

The razor at work…

You are Hydros’ absolute single biggest fan. You basically run their entire support forum. You have a technical background. You have a relationship with them of some sorts where you have been asked to beta test (your words) other Hydros products. (nothing wrong with any of that).

If there are beta testers, there is absolutely no doubt that you would be at the top of their list.

So you have a beta unit and can’t say a peep due to NDA… or they simply don’t exist in any reasonable form to be beta tested yet….

At least that is my take, not that it matters one bit.

At ReefStock Denver, Eric Tang with Focustronic said the Mastertronic Essentials should be shipping to suppliers this month. If true, and it comes out before we get any real, informative updates on the Maven, I wonder if HYDROS is about to lose a bunch of customers

I, for one, am strongly considering the Mastertronic Essentials now

I don't see why Hydros would loose customers over that. The Hydros collective at this point can already integrate the Focustronic devices into the system and use their testing data for automated dosing. If anything it just gives current users another option. That's one of the better things about Hydros....They play nice with others, as long as the others provide that ability. So far they work well and have integrated control with Focustronic, Kamoer, Sicce and numerous different flow pumps, I am even using the 0-10v control to operate the dimmer on my Dimmable T5 that only offers control compatibility through Apex.

The way the Hydros system operates allows for a much broader spectrum of equipment from many more manufactures. It's like the difference between Apple and PC. Apple offers vertical Apple integration(Apex). PC works with everyone else and integrates some Apple compatibilities as well(Hydros).

Hydros has made it through it's infancy and is starting to come into their own. They have a better networking system between the controllers(CAN bus) and are adding new products regularly. At this point I don't think it is Hydros that should be worried about loosing customers.
