May I ask what you are using to test the tank water that you use to calibrate the Trident? Are you using the values of your last test using the Trident, or a 3rd party test kit? If so, which one?

They are using their preferred manual test kit. They run a test, hopefully three, get the value, and use that to plug into the calibration task on the Trident. A few believe that the included calibration solution that comes with the reagents is not good or correct.

I can only speak for my experience and find it to be accurate.

Salifert, hanna, red sea. Do 3 of each. Average. Put those in.

Have you ever tested the calibration fluid? They are WAY off from what their bottles say. I tested 3 from a 12 month kit and they were way off.

No, I've not felt the need to. I typically do not run manual tests to keep tabs on the automated devices if that makes sense. A few times I've sent in a ICP test (ATI is who I use) and then compared those results to the Trident and I'm happy enough. I didn't say you or others that do it this way are wrong. Just noted I have a different experience.

Using Hannah and Salifert kits. I have Hannah and Salifert Alk kits (extra confirmation) and for calcium and magnesium I use Salifert. I don’t care for the resolution on accuracy for Calcium and Mag as I really care mostly about Alk, but if I see a big swing in Calcium I’ll spot check and figure out if I want to correct it or not.

No need to explain yourself. I get what you are doing and why. But I would suggest you check the calibration bottle next time. You will likely be surprised.

The sense ports can be used for a leak detector and another sensor if needed and the 2 drive ports can be used with 2 simple dosers to dose depending on the test results if you are using it stand alone.

I'm aware, but for me personally I just want the testing. I have the rest of my controller set up and dosing how I want it. I imagine most people buying this thing at launch do as well.

If you are going to use it stand alone those will come in handy. I used the X10 with the iV stand alone for a few months and was also dynamically dosing a KH buffer and All for Reef with it. I did have a leak detector in the tray with the iV just incase it did overflow it would at least halt any more testing until it was taken care of. It is now a part of the collective. They do comment that the Maven can be used standalone. Those ports cannot add that much to the cost if the X2 can be purchased for about $160 and it has those exact ports with the same microprocessor as the Maven. Since My guess is that a lot of that price goes for the microprocessor and case and hardware. So for the little extra it can make a good stand alone controller if need be. Besides if this is added to a collective the 2 drive ports and sense ports can come in handy since in a collective those are shared with the collective as whole and not specific to the Maven any longer.

I was at CoralVue stand during RAP NY 2024 and was personally told that Thanksgiving 2024 was their goal.

I remember them saying they were targeting 4th quarter, but not specifically Black Friday, yet I'll take your word for it as maybe I missed it. They were even hedging on 4th quarter.

That's a goal - not an announcement. There's a big difference between "this product will be available on Black Friday" and "we hope to have it released by Black Friday."

That's all fine. I just want the testing. I know their big thing is that everything can act as a controller. That's fine. If they delayed it to add more features I think they are missing the mark. I just want an accurate tester that is easy to maintain.

Give ABC a shot. Much cheaper and more consistent in my experience.

With the quietness of the Maven the last month and lack of updating this thread, I’m starting to feel they are having some issues with consistency… I think I’m going to hold off buying the first round of units.

My speculation a few days ago was correct.
I respect the delay, just wish it came from their representatives.
This does bring some mental comfort if I were to buy immediately, knowing they intentionally delayed, due to releasing the best product they can.

It doesn't matter which is why I'm wondering why you're trying to correct me on it.

They're not missing their launch date because they never officially announced a launch date. Their website has said "Coming Soon" since they first added the Maven to it back in April or May.
The problem is that some vendors took the target date they were provided and used it as an announced date.
I'm not convinced that they were even expecting a release this year, and only gave those targets as a means to sway people who might be considering the Neptune NP. The timing of the product announcement was around the same time as the NP release.

I don't think they committed to Black Friday, I am not sure, I saw a YouTube video when Hydros was giving a demo at a Reefapalooza in Fl, and the Rep said we are looking to release on Black Friday with an additional promotion.

I don't think anybody is trying to correct you, but rather point out that it just doesn't matter what the nuanced differences in language mean or who officially said what and when.

Again the nuance is silly and doesn't matter. Call it whatever you wish, CV released a video indicating that they were delaying the launch of the product and that it would be several more months. That means that the planned release was sometime in the past, present or very near future and that it will not happen for several more months from the date of the announcement. Do the math any way you wish, it is not coming until sometime next year. That is really all that is relevant.

I appreciate Hydros for delaying the Maven launch rather than releasing a product that is not ready. I felt the Trident NP was rushed to market, and a lot of their customers paid $700+ to basically become beta testers on units that can't measure phosphates accurately. Perhaps Hydros has learned from the Trident NP issues, and making additional changes to the hardware to avoid some of the same issues or having a longer pre-sale beta testing to make sure it works over time.
