Iodine high levels

At what level is Iodine documented to become toxic? would it kill inverts first or corals and any documented different tolerances to Iodine for different corals?
is 220 Microgram per litre considered toxic?

From what I've read and understand, natural sea water contains approx .025 to .08 ppm iodine. Higher than that is toxic and deadly to inverts. Higher than that can kill fish. Reef tank target I believe is .06ppm

Dear maroun.c,

220 µg is above normal seawater values (60 µg/l), and might cause some coral browning. It is unlikely to induce further harm.
Dont dose iodine for a while, add some GAC, and dont worry too much about the value.

I do not know what level of the various forms of iodine are toxic in a marine system, but unless you are dosing I2, I would not expect 220 ug/L to be toxic. It is not that much higher than the natural level of about 60 ug/L.

Theanks all for the replies. Dosing a mix of Aqua forest, Marinium iodine is well as Lugol. At 5 drops a day alternating them every day I have been at around 80-100 since June. Not sure why it jumped that high.
