Keep us updated. I started dosing h2o2 on a evo 13 I started with dry rock and I seem to have loads of gha every where, I'm dosin 0.7mo after lights out and in the morning before I go to work. It's only been 4 days but its slowed the growth down.
Will do, I was having issues with the red slime algae and the “red slime remover” wasn’t working.
Since it was a nuvo I just drained it removed the substrate rinsed it until it went clear then did a rinse with h2o2 then re rinsed a few times. Added everything back, did a scrub of the rocks.

I’m sure my Nem is still angry from the temp swing

Vibrant cleared 100% of the bubble and 90% of the hair, but, it took 16 weeks.

It also seemed to coincide with the loss of all my coralline algae as well.

Well that’s good to know. The thing that bummed me about the vibrant was seeing new algae growing while the vibrant had already been dosed 6 times lol

Ohhhhh major H202 question: maybe @brandon429 can give some insight.

I’ve been battling this invasive sponge. It’s root-like (think the plant thing that was defending the sorcerer’s stone)

Will h202 kill invasive sponges (like it does algae and Xenia)?

My method of dosing is to use just a small amount but daily to maintain a cleaner tank. For existing issues/problems, you may need to use more, have patience and also look at other husbandry. Although I attribute H2O2 to a clean look in my tank, I’d also look into other ways to deal with problems. But nothing like purely purple rock!

Vibrant seems to work well with certain pest algae but only when dosed accordingly. I don’t think it’s magic in a bottle but I’ve used it with success before. It’s a heterotrophic bacteria strain(s) so they really directly eat the algae, not control nutrients and other underlying problems. A lot of algae populates quickly so bottled stuff may not do the trick.

I know the issue I have its higher po4 than I'd like plus using dry rock. My other 2 tanks dont have this issue and I use the same salt water, food and rodi even the sand is all out of the same bag. They have very similar stocking so food quantity is the same. the only major difference is lighting and rock. The other 2 tanks i used live rock.

I’m dosing 5mL %6 daily. So if you’ve got 3% which is more common, it’s like 10mL. It’s on a 130g tank. I worked my way up from 1mL to observe it’s effects on inverts, fish and corals. Zoas being the only coral that shows a negative response but it only lasts 5 minutes. You can see my pic on the first post here. I just want to point out that this isn’t a cure to any problem but just keeping common problems like dinos, cyano and problematic algae at bay. This isn’t a fast cure or a fix to poor husbandry. If I had a bad hair algae problem, I’d probably up my dosing of this slowly but I’d also tackle other areas of concern first and not solely rely on H2O2.

Thanks for the response. I'm currently going through the ugly phase on a 120 with caribsea liferock. Nothing extreme but still ugly. I'm just trying to keep the algea manageable while still allowing it to feed on and remove whatever is causing it to grow. I've been scrubbing the rock and vacuuming the sand every other week. I currently have an oxidator with 3% peroxide in the sump. I started dosing around 10 ml every night for 3 days now. I'll see how it goes.

ScottR amazing thread you found a timing where the activity is really in focus with the public that’s a very quick ten pages of happiness you’ve produced :)

@Robert Binz so sorry I haven’t seen perx wipe out sponges, I tried 35% perox and rasping surgery to get a pervasive white sponge off my acan and it just grew back so I tossed the whole frag to prevent spread in the tank. Not all marine sponges are risky but my tank is too old to try. Zero risk permitted. Any noncompliants get the immediate boot.

How many times per week were you dosing?
Exactly what is described on the bottle and no more.
Only once every two weeks until algae gone, then I added UV.
I believe it was 1ml per 10 gallons.

I also pulled and removed what was easy first.
I made sure my phosphate was 0.03ppm-.1ppm
I changed my socks daily.
I kept my skimmer going, a little more wet than usual.
I made sure that no outside light would hit the tank.

In about 8 weeks the algae turned more translucent beige.
It was d
I scrubbed it again with a toothbrush, it came off easy now.

By 16 weeks, wow, it did work for me but you got to help.

Again, it may remove your coralline if you have any as well.

Rip clean didn’t work even with the h2o2 in the one rinse. Looked good for two days. This algae is back already. Could be from left over on snails or rock I missed. I’m going to start dosing 1ml a day tonight.

my po4 is .09 and nitrates are low there’s only one clown in this nuvo 10. It’s almost like red carpet when I let it go but looks hairish.
CUC isn’t doing much of anything.

nice run anyway, helps to stave off other trade off invasions and it makes room in the system to take on loss of that growth when something kills it or taken back as waste if an animal eats it.

if that’s a highly invasive dino/ toughest scourge around then its an enjoyable battle to watch, it’d be quadrupled by now without the quick intervene

That came back from tap rinsed sand?? (Or landed on top of it as a mat, could be slingin’ off the rock, a rip clean closes the location hunt down to one of those two sources)
