Jumping on this old post: I'm finding some purple spots on my rocks. It is not very easy to scrape off. Is it too optimistic to hope that this is coralline algae?

Can also be fuzzy red algae or Polysiphonia which is a type of red hair algae

Thank you everyone for your comments. I am now believing that indeed it is coralline algae. Vetteguy53081, I don't think it is the algae you mentioned (after googling them, they look different from what I see on my tank), but I'll pay attention to it.
