Is my Toadstool going to make it?

I got this toadstool coral two weeks ago.

Tuesday morning the stalk had split.

I tried wedging it between two rocks, but it just wasn't working. The stalk completely broke.

So this morning I used toothpicks to attach it to another rock.

Anyone have a toadstool split like this on them before?

Yea I’ve had them “rot” like this and they usually survive.

Might be worth investigating why it ended up that way

Not sure. Only parameter out of whack is phosphate at 0.3, which is a constant issue with this tank.

Shouldn’t even be an issue for softies.

I’ve had my phosphates at 2+ for a bit with little issue

Since it’s a softie, I’m wondering if cutting the stalk away from the base would give it a better opportunity to heal. But I’m no expert so perhaps @VintageReefer might be able to advise you.

That's what I usually do with cases like this.

Just cut above the rot to make sure no rot makes it to the new flesh, and wedge it in a crevice somewhere

You can't really glue it as they don't take well to glue and will usually melt away.

I would do what @bluemon said. The interesting thing about these are that the base may actually heal and form another cap. Now if that happened for you it would be a cool frag without the fragging!

The toothpick method didn't work. The stalk broke again.

So I cut off the rotting part of the stalk and used a needle and thread to attach it to the rock.

It held well for two days, but now the toadstool is once again off the rock. I guess the thread pulled through the stalk.

I figure I'll now use sewing thread to tie it to the rock like I would a frag.

Not much polyp extension.

Try putting it into a higher flow area, seeing it down by mushrooms and zoa's makes me think its in a very low flow spot. They do better in higher flow, and higher light too IME. Right now its lower than the mushrooms and zoa's so get lets light.

Toadstool is looking much better. But, the string that I'm using to hold it to the rock is now cutting into the cap. I'm unsure if the coral has attached itelf to the rock, so I'm not sure if I should cut it or not.

If you want two smaller coral, it’s a good thing I guess?

If you want two then good. I did it by accident and just thought I would mention it after seeing the image.
