Let’s talk parameters a little. I am not sure there’s anything to worry about to be clear. I have one leather in particular that spends weeks at a time looking really awful. It also seems to be my fastest grower so he’s shedding all the time and looks puny and like a little prune most of the time. Has 1-2 good days and goes back to doing the same. But maybe we should start to think about parameters and impact or whether there’s anything new in the tank that may be bothering him. So what are your parqmeters like? Also, a good way to tell whether he’s still healthy is does he feel solid and leathery to the touch. If he does, he’s fine. Decaying leathers melt away and loose big chunks if you give them a light squeeze between the fingers.

There seems to be a bit hardness to him so fingers crossed on that. Parameters wise,

Nitrate - 1
Phos - 0
Calcium - 420
Alk - 8.6 dosing all for reef
Salinity - 1.025
PH - 8.4

All other corals and fish doing great

It’s great to hear that he feels firm to the touch. I am wondering if he’s a little stressed out because your nutrients are so low though. How are you measuring phosphate and nitrate?

FINAL UPDATE:

So came down this morning and multiple parts of the the coral were floating in the tank. Removed and half of it has rotted away. Shame as I really liked it but just not to be.

Oh no! Sorry to hear. I would look at this from lots of angles because leathers are so so hardy. One of my leathers melted away when my lights were not set appropriately (way too low) and my salinity was super high (1.032, refractometer was super off). I’ve almost nuked my tank otherwise and my leathers have persevered. I do think you need much higher nutrients if you want to keep leathers.
