I added a royal gramma to my tank on Friday. Yesterday I noticed some white patchy spots on him. He's been breathing fast for a few days too but I just noticed the white yesterday. He also hasn't been eating since Saturday, I just figured he was stressed out about his new home. Unfortunately this morning he's already dead.
Other fish in the tank look healthy so far.

I think this is either brook or velvet but I'm not sure. Can anyone ID?

I do have some ruby red on the way and will order copper, even just to have on hand in case of future emergencies. Unfortunately I live in an area without an LFS so everything has to be shipped which takes at least 3 days IMG_9654.PNG

The marks may be from scratching associated with flukes which they are prone to
Suggest treatment in a separate tank using Prazipro at 85% of recommended dose lasting 8 days… do a water change and one more dosage lasting 8 days

The video, with the fish breathing fast, that does look like it could be flukes, but the pic of the deceased fish seems to show some mucus peeling off of the gramma towards the back - that looks more like Brooklynella. Brook mostly infects just a few species, most notably clownfish and royal grammas. Do you have any clowns in the tank? If they look o.k., then I would lean towards flukes, since they would also show brook, but don't have as much of a reaction to flukes in a tank.

I do have clowns and they look good so far and are eating.

I've ordered some prazipro and I'll get a qt set up in the meantime. The display doesn't have to be fallow for 2 months like with other parasites?

Thank you so much!!

You can dose prazi right in the display, so no fallow period is needed:

Ok, update!

I'm still waiting on the prazipro to come in (I live in Canada and it was hard to procure). So far I've just been keeping a close eye on the rest of my fish

Yesterday one of my clowns started developing a white splotch on her underside. I did a fresh water dip for 5 minutes last night but didn't see anything come off of her. She also looks worse today and the splotch is bigger, or at least more pronounced. It's almost like a beige scale? I'm assuming this is probably mucus?
She's been hanging out near the top of the tank today. I put a couple air stones in there to help with oxygenation.
She didn't have any interest in pellets this morning either. It might be worth mentioning that she has been having white stringy poop as well, but I also have been feeding more frozen food than usual
I do have some ruby reef rally pro, so I dosed that today and will keep dosing for at least the next three days like the instructions say. The prazipro probably won't be here for another week (sigh)

Are we still thinking this is flukes?

You could have two issues at the same time.

However, my diagnosis of flukes was contingent on the clowns doing well. Now that they aren’t, the diagnosis could be Brooklynella. For that, you could try Ruby Reef Rally Pro, but you’d need to get it ASAP.
