I've had this guy for about two weeks, and I swear he always looks like he's huffing and puffing. However, at the same time he's always swimming around poking his snout into the rocks and taking nips of algae, and generally looking ok aside from the breathing.

What do you think?

Breathing rate elevated
Assure ammonia level has not increased
Assure temperature not high
Any itching or twitching?
How are other fish breathing/behaving?
Will revisit video on a much larger screen in a bit

Both ammonia badges look good, but I'll run a Hanna and Red Sea test kit to double check.
Temp is right around 78°F
No itching, but he does sort of flick his spines up from time to time.
Everyone else is breathing normally.

Thanks!
Brett

Flicking spines in normal with them as they approach given areas
Please recheck water- i have no faith in badges especially after 2 weeks of use and being designed also for freshwater

Red Sea looks like 0.0 ppm total Ammonia? But it's a color test, and I only trust my eyes so much (see attached).

Hanna says 0.04 ppm total Ammonia, which if I calculate the free Ammonia I get 0.003 ppm.

Thanks!
Brett

I’d say flukes given the short time you’ve had it, the rapid breathing and frequent fin flicking.

Flukes are treated with Praziquantel, right?

Is treating him in the tank reasonable? I was thinking it would good to treat everyone (2 Clownfish and a Firefish) along with the Foxface. I'm also not sure I can catch the Foxface without removing all the rock.

I was also thinking that QT would perhaps be even more stressful, and he already seems pretty afraid of the world. He usually hides if you look at him.

If it is flukes, you would want to treat the whole tank. You can use praziquantel powder or Prazipro liquid. Run your skimmer, but don't collect any skimmate. Adding extra aeration is important. Remove carbon from the filter. Dose it once, then again 8 days later.
