I see a white dot on the left fin on my PBT.. Is that ich? Fish is swimming and eating just fine.. All other fish dont have any symptoms yet.. If this is ich in its initial stage is there a way to treat in DT? Taking it out from DT to QT is going to be so challenging.. @Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081 please suggest

Cant see from your video, but if ich, typically many dots on the body of the fish. One dot on a fin is likely something else, but if you can get a clear picture some of the fish medics can weigh in.

thanks @mmorrison55 .. not sure why the video is blurry for 1st few seconds.. but check the video from 21 second to 27 second mark, the white dot is clearly visible.. will try to get more videos

Still pictures under white light would be best. The video show the fish is swimming and behaving normally which is always a good sign.

Looks to be Lymphocystis and is a condition and not disease. Often its associated with water quality issue as simple as elevated ammonia or nitrate and assure to provide Good water quality monitored by a reliable test kit and feed nutritious food with fats such as LRS fish frenzy , plankton and mysis shrimp. Check again in 24 hours as ich will multiply in number and location on fish but ruling ich out.

Sorry - I can’t see anything in the video. Ich will show as small white spots, a bit larger than a grain of sand. They will come and go over a few days, showing in different locations on the fish, but with a general trend of increasing numbers.

thank you both! New to the reefing world, so every small thing looks to be a problem :)

I am feeding frozen mysis, nori, frozen fish eggs and flakes.. also ordered TDO pellets.. will look into ordering LRS fish frenzy next

@Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081 the number of white spots have increased overnight and are on both left and right fins now, and some on the body too.. here is a clear video
watch

Blue tang has 1 white spot on the fin where PBT had it yesterday.. is it start of the outbreak? I have 16 total fish in the tank.. I don’t have capacity to QT them all.. what are my options? Please help

Watching on YT is better since for some reason the YouTube videos appear blurry on R2R

You tube is generally our clearest images but I can make out what appears to be mucus cones often derived from a skin irritation and something they easily acquire.
You can wait it out and see if it diminishes but I often recommend placing fish and other occupants into a separate tank or container and treat 30 days with coppersafe at 2.25ppm. You will notice others not showing signs which is typical when mucus cones are present.
Leave display without fish for 45 days ( coral and inverts can remain and do a couple of water changes during this period

Thanks Vette guy, did you check video of PBT in my first response? It is not that severe on Blue tang yet.. Attaching a pic of PBT

thank you for confirming @vetteguy53081.. Is there any medicine I can add to the DT to help it? I feel I am not equipped to do a QT yet, after a failed attempt on a yellow damsel :(

No. Most anything you add that states reef safe is safe for ich and other protozoans as well. You can try Ruby Rally pro which will address irritations but not ich

I added Rox 0.8 Carbon yesterday, assuming it was one one of the organic particles causing distress, and it seems like PBT doesnt have those big white spots on the fin anymore.. Though there is still some algae/worms kinda stuff attached to its body, not sure what it is and if its harmful or not! Hippo tang still has some mucus cones on its body..

Here is a video of PBT, can someone please check to confirm what are these white stingy thing on its body:

These are mucus cones for sure and ROX may add to issue rather than remedy but see how things look after 48 hrs of adding it to tank. The white strings are mucus which the cones expel
