This morning I went to feed everyone and noticed this on my new blue tang. Just got him (liveaquaria - tank raised) and he was in the QT for a week with PraziPro, two treatments. Added him to the DT yesterday and didn't see anything unusual, he was making friends with the two paired clowns eating, exploring. Didn't realize how difficult it'd be to photograph a fish, so these were the best shots I could get. Also has it on the other side but didn't get any photos.

If the pics aren't good, let me know and I'll try to improve it. Basically, several white specs on his body.

These are mucus cones often stemming from a skin irritation and aometimes mixed in with ich. Treatment best with coppersafe in a separate tank at 2.25 ppm monitored with a Hanna Brand copper test kit for a full 30 days.
You will notice other occupants show no signs but too should be treated as a precaution
Leave display without fish (but inverts and coral can remain) for 6 weeks to assure nothing in tank is present with other fish

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

That’s marine ich. I have to question them saying this was tank raised, there are some ocean pen raised hepatus tangs coming in, but this one is larger, looks wild caught to me.

Your two options aren’t going to be easy: hyposalinity or coppersafe of all fish for 30 days with no invertebrates present, then keep all fish out of this tank for 60 days to ensure the ich tomonts die out.

Let me know if you need instructions for doing that.

Thanks, Jay. It was my first purchase from them and it wasn't great. They never notified me that it shipped and so I assumed it was delayed and went to work. Come to find out, it did ship the day before and ended up sitting in the hot Florida sun for 5 1/2 hours until I got home. When I emailed to ask about the shipment, they said they forgot to let me know. He seemed near dead when I opened the box and started to get him acclimated but after several days he pulled through and is now very lively and spritely.... until I found this today.
