Hello Everyone!

My first post on here and it comes with a worrying situation!

The tank has been running for 5 years now with minimal issues thanks to all the advice on here!

However! I added a large copperband butterfly about 2 months ago as the only new addition and over the last few weeks my powder blue tang, 2 years old to me, has started developing bumps on his body and what appear to be small what spots?

The copperband shows small spots on his rear fin only and no other fish appear to be affected?

Purple tang and Kole tang seem fine?

Anything a likely cause for these two?

Thank you!

Rob

I've noticed some lumps and spots on my Powder blue recently and I'm concerned it could be ICH? PBT is about 2 years old to me.

I added a copperband butterfly about 2 months ago from a trusted fish store and a few weeks ago noticed lumps and spots on the powder blue? The copperband has a few patches on the rear fin only and no other fish seems affected?

One day the powder blue seems clear and a few days later infested? All eating well with absolutely no lack of energy!

Any help/advice would be great?!

Thanks,

THe pictures do not really show anything with the blue light. (Except a faint couple of spots on the Copperband. The scenario you describe suggests possible ICH - due to the coming and going every couple days. I assume you did not quarantine the Copperband

I answered your question on the other thread - its best to not start 2 threads about the same subject - can you refer to the other one you created - Thanks

PS - pictures under white light are essential to see this - the blue does not work

Thanks for your quick response! Sorry. Very new to posting on here!

It looks like the images have been compressed A Lot to upload? Is there any way of avoiding this?

The copperband was in my LFS display tank after being qt'd in copper on arrival... Or so they tell me...

OH - so you did not QT it yourself? In that case - I would assume its not QT'd

Near impossible to assess. Please post pics using white light intensity only- no blue lights please

Expanding pic, powder blue shows bumps which may be a skin irritation that are susceptible to but will wait for pics under bright white lighting to best assess.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

The spots I can see on the copperband’s tail fin are most likely ich……

Evening! Thank you everyone!

All but copper freaked under white light and I could not get a picture!

I have a ph buffered fw dip ready but cannot catch bluey for the life of us...

Not wanting to stress him any more I've tried fluke solve as the white 'growths' are definitely stringing off his black face today...

Is there any way I can share clear photographs with someone who has better experience than myself?

Hopeful, Rob! 🤞🏻

These are the best shots I could get with the blue light reduced to about 20%

Any ideas would be great?

Thanks again!

I can't see the spots on the copperband now, but it is pretty distant in the photo. The lumps on the powder blue is how ich sometimes looks on them.....

Thanks for your response Jay!

Would ICH present as stringy growths on the sides and face also?

Is there any way I can send you high resolution images to confirm?

No, end stage ich causes mucus, but in minor cases like this would be, it’s just tiny white spots, not mucus.

I’m no sure of the picture issue - the resolution for uploads should be fine, but the image needs to be clear and close up to begin with, and getting good pics of fish is tough.

Thanks again Jay,

I've uploaded full resolution pictures to the link below,

Can you please take a look when you get chance?

Thanks, these help.

In the last powder blue image, I can clearly see ich. The copperband shows ich on its tail as well.

What treatment options do you have?
