From what I’ve read (not first hand experience - I’m sure somebody else will chime in), you should shoot for a flow rating somewhere around 10x your tank volume. I’ve heard Jake and Mark from Reef Builders talking about even 2x flow being good enough though (after factoring in your head pressures).

No, Blaxsun said you might consider it if you wanted to increase your flow. Do you feel you need to increase your flow? What is in your sump? Refugium? You don’t want to increase your return so much that the flow in the refugium is too fast or you start dumping micro bubbles into the DT. Do you have any powerheads in the DT? I would get flow through the sump dialed in then add powerheads to DT for additional flow if you need it.

I run an M2 on my tank which is 80g. It is at 45% and has been fine for 2.5 years.

The pump is more than enough to 3x to 5x the tank volume through the sump.
It's already working , so why let someone else tell you it isn't?
